Like I mentioned yesterday........ May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month.
As most of you know, my older sister had a brain tumor a few years ago. Removed twice and is now happy and healthy. Well 6 months ago, my brother was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. Glioblastoma multiforme is the highest grade glioma (grade 4) tumor and is the most malignant form of astrocytomas. Last month he had brain surgery for the second time. This week he starts another treatment of radiation. While news of brain cancer for our family, was devastating and we still struggle each day as we try to cope with the changes that have affected us. We use my brother Jay as an example, to stay positive, to have faith and to have hope. We know there is a plan for our family and we take each day as they come. With lots of prayer for healing and comfort. When I found out that May was Brain Tumor Awareness Month, I racked my OWN brain trying to think of SOMETHING that I could do. I was tired of feeling helpless and hopeless. Being involved in a cause has given me strength to get through each and every day. I came up with a plan to have a special day. One set aside, where family and friends can bring awareness and show love and support by celebrating Jay. Celebrating the life that we each have been given. I created a logo.
"WEAR GRAY FOR JAY" (idea borrowed from 'I wear gray' shirts seen around the internet). We have set aside Saturday, May 1st as "Wear Gray for Jay" Day. LOTS of family and friends will be sporting gray tee shirts, eating pizza, and pizookie and just plain enjoying being around each other. I have found great comfort knowing that although family and friends are miles apart, we will all be united for this one event.

I have also found amazing LOVE and support from my online community. The designers at The-LilyPad have rallied together and created a collab.

There are so many things I LOVE about May!
It's WARM, it's the last month of school before summer, it's International Scrapbook Day, there are tons of field trips and parties, family get togethers and evenings out. I also just discovered a couple more things that make me LOVE May. (More info coming about this tomorrow) but a hint is this: May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month as well as Skin Cancer Awareness Month, both causes have tremendous affect on my family. I will have a blog post tomorrow about what we are doing and more so what YOU can do!!!!
